Hello@Kakkaa,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

Need assistance in finding more information on upgrading the processor on the PC. Did I get it right?

I appreciate the description you have shared about the issue which ideally helps me to find the exact solution and share it with you.

Upgrading the Processor might change the way your PC performs. HP design any product based of the feasible hardware configuration.

HP Doesn't recommend any upgrade/downgrade of any hardware/software parts or software that is bundled with the product. It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and PC’s performance as well.

Hope this solves the query you have. Please let me know more.

Hi @Kakkaa,

I reviewed the post comprehensively. Brilliant research, a superb analysis of the issue has been done. As @ Chimney_83 is out of office for the day, I am jumping in to assist you here. It is very clear from the specs. It supports only the list of processors mentioned in the specs sheet and  i837 4790K is not mentioned. Hence it is not supported.

Regarding overclocking of processors, Usually for most computers overclocking of processors are disabled as a standard bios is installed on all these HP products. This is done considering several factors for optimal performance, to avoid heat -savvy.issues and because most customers are not tech-savvy.

Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply, I 've given you an honest reply without beating around the bush.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
