Questions about HP Pavilion 690-0812no
11-03-2019 02:18 PM
Hi,
I'm thinking about buying the HP Pavilion 690-0812no, it will primarilly be used as regular desktop computer, and not really for gaming.
Can the green LEDs be tured off in BIOS or software?
Does it support and additonal SDD (SATA or M2)?
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06414393/
Looking at the specs, it comes with "HP Lighting Bar Control" installed, which I assume can tune the LEDs.
The motherboard expansion slots state "One M.2 socket 3, 2280 type for SSD", which I interpret as there is room for another disk?
Many Thanks!

Greetings Gman13,
Welcome to the forum.
I am not a HP employee.
I am not going to deal with LED cosmetics.
HP is not, per my searches, providing a motherboard image. So I don't know how many SATA ports are on the motherboard.
This PC comes with a 256 GB NVME drive. I don't see any SATA HDD options. It also has a SATA optical disc drive.
I don't like seeing a Intel i3 CPU.
You might want to look at a better HP system.
Regards

Ill also add, if its not going to be used for gaming and just an email/office machine, its alright.
It does come also with a Sata port on the motherboard, but I cannot remember if it comes with the HDD screws for mounting the HDD into the cage. Page 13 of the manual shows where the HDD installs to...

The lighting as I understand it can be turned off in the bios.
But you can also install the HP Phoenix software and turn off the lighting, you just wont be able to change the colors.

Questions about HP Pavilion 690-0812no

Hi Photoray002,
I have had unpleasant experiences with i3 CPUs.
I would go with an i5 or i7 processor and 16 GB of RAM.
I wish HP would provide a MB image so you can check the number of SATA ports on the system board. No available SATA ports on the motherboard means no additional storage device support.
A 256 GB SSD will fill up very quick.
Regards

Hi Photoray002.
Nice.
Three SATA ports. You have HDD or SSD upgrade options.
