Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I just got a brand new Omen 25l Desktop with a Core i5-10400. Instead of using the preinstalled Windows, I freshly installed Windows myself. Eveything runs fine so far, but in CPU-Z I saw that my RAM only runs at 1330MHZ (DDR4-2660), while there are multiple JEDEC and XMP profiles for 1600MHz(DDR4-3200). The Bios doesn't have any settings to change ram speed, but I read that the OMEN Gaming Hub software should be able to do so. I've installed said software, the HP Sytem Event Utility as wella s the OMEN Command Center SDK Package, which says it will unlock "OMEN Command Center Overclocking". However, there are still no options for overclocking. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help,

Hagen

@Hagen1 , welcome to the forum.

The memory in your computer is running as stated in the specifications: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-desktop-pc-25l-gt12-0000i/33492320/model/35719207/document...

Look at the section titled "Memory".  HP doesn't add any XMP's in the BIOS/UEFI for their computers at this time.

Here is the guide on HP Omen Command Center: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05387497

If you read through the sections titled "Omen software compatible models" and "Omen Command Center options" you will see that you model is not included at this point.

Hi @Old_geekster,

You are right about the default RAM speed being as specified.

The guide on the "Omen Command Center" seems to be quite out of date though, since it doesn't even acknowledge the name change to "Gaming Hub". Furthermore it doesn't mention any of the 25L or 30L models, while the website for the 25L/30L models(https://www.omen.com/us/en/desktops/omen-25l-30l/specifications-25L.html) in its specifications under OGH features claims "With just a few clicks, you can safely overclock CPU and RAM". THat's additionally to the previously mentioned OMEN Command Center SDK Package, which says it will unlock "OMEN Command Center Overclocking". So we can say at best, that the information HP provides about this topic is 1) contradictory and b) outdated. Is there any way to get an official statement about which features should be supported and what the future plans for this are?

Best,

Hagen

Welcome to the Omen world of memory struggles, yes HP are not allowing any XMP profile enabling and they are only using HP OCC for "overclocking", but there are ways to go around that and simply enable the XMP on the memory, if you have faster one that is of course. Just search here in the forum.

HP is just like all other OEM manufacturers.  They are finding it difficult to keep up with the changes that Component manufactures are making at warp speed.  I have been on these Forums for many years and have never had such a difficult time keeping up with the changes.  Of course, I am an old_geekster! 😉  This may have something to do with it.
