OMEN 30L Desktop - GT13-0792nz

I installed new RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (CMW32GX4M2E3200C16). At first the RAM worked and to my surprise, the RAM frequency was 3200 mhz. Few days later, I had same stupid idea: installed XTU.  Current problem: After installing XTU again, RAM went from 3200 > 2133 (in Taskmanager + everywhere i checked, except cmd).

I can chose XMP, but it does not accept it.

I tried:

  • install & update all HP driver, software
  • use older XTU version (5.2.40). But the "memory" tab does not show, neither does it in Gaming Hub
  • reinstall PC 1x with old, 1x with new RAM
  • uninstall XTU (device manager)
  • trying XMP 1, Default & XMP 2 (although XMP 2 numbers are almost all 0)
  • Chose XMP 1, then chose custom (it copies the value, right?), then tried 1 above 2133, same issue
  • using only slot 1, or 2 slots, or 3+4, 1+2, 1+4, & normal dual channel

I select XMP 1 (3200), PC restarts few times, then beeps 3x slow, 2x fast. If unlucky : black screen & I have to do random things like remove PC from energy, change RAM etc. Im out of ideas & really really frustrated.

*again, because instaling XTU f'ed up my PC alrdy once. After installing, the tab to OC in Omen Hub disappeared + some problems.

God

thank you

[SOLVED for the most part 😂]

It worked. Steps:

  1. Updated Bios from 26 > 27 (not sure if this helped. Maybe, but doubt it)
  2. Selected XMP Profile
  3. Important: Switched from XMP Profile to Custom Profile, so it took all the settings with me.
  4. After I switched to XMP Custom Profile, I set 1.35 volt. Then worked my way from 1200 MHZ (I think), up to 1600 MHZ. Let it reboot after every change, checked task manager, CPU-Z, RAMMon, RAMExpert and kept going until 1600 MHZ > 3200 MHZ

Mistake: After it worked the first time, I again opened the Dropdown XMP menu, chose Default profile and then switched to Custom Profile. This didnt work, but led to the, by many experienced, loop of torture: "3x slow beep, 2x slow beep"*.

Suggestion: DO NOT INSTALL INTEL EXTREME TUNING UTILITY. This software began my battle. Some people achieved the result without XMP in Bios, but with deleting XTU updates & installing a old version, whee u cud still select memory.

I was getting very mad, havent slept the whole night.

[/SOLVED]

Any questions?

After successfuly enabling XMP & going from 2133 -> 3600 MHZ, though latencies are a bit off; I realized Ranks changed from Ranks: Dual, to Ranks: Single. (Not speaking of "Dual Channel")

I never heard about this before. Guys, shareur knowledge please: what does "Rank" mean, why did it happen and which of the two is faster?
