OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop PC GT15-1000i (6J775AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi support community,

Recently, I have had issues with my PC's power supply, but after that has been fixed, another issue has come up. The RGB on the CPU cooler and front bezel stopped lighting up, and I do not know why. The RAM still lights up fine and I can control it in OMEN Gaming Hub, but the other RGB lights stay dark no matter what I do in Gaming Hub.

Right before the original power supply that came with the PC died, it boot looped with all the correct RGB colors and they all lit up. After the original power supply died, I used an older 500W power supply from another build to test the system, make sure everything was working. The system continued to boot loop, which I figured was because it was missing the correct 8-pin connector needed for the GPU. The RGB lights were also different from the original colors. The normal white on the front bezel turned to a bright green, and the normal green on the CPU cooler turned to red. I thought it was maybe just the system trying to display error codes through the RGB. I ordered a new PSU, and installed it into my PC. Everything worked fine, but the RGB stopped working. I'll attach some photos below so it's easier to visualize what's going on.

Here's what I've tried:

Updated BIOS

Updated OMEN Gaming Hub

Installed OMEN Gaming Hub SDK

Reset BIOS settings

Uninstalled and reinstalled OMEN Gaming Hub

Installed all Windows updates

Made sure all cables are plugged in

Made sure there are no conflicting software

Ran sfc /scannow

My PC specs:

Intel Core i5-13400F

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

Kingston FURY Beast 16 GB DDR5 RAM (RGB)

1 TB SSD (WD SN560 I believe)

Wireless internet connection

The image above is what the RGB is supposed to look like. Green for the CPU cooler, white for the front bezel.

The image above is what the RGB looked like when I tried to power on the computer with an old PSU I had laying around, but it didn't have the 8-pin GPU connector so it kept boot looping. The CPU cooler is supposed to be green, not red, and the front bezel light is supposed to be white, not green.

The image above shows what the RGB looks like now. There are no lights for the CPU cooler or front bezel, no matter what I try. The CPU cooler looks light it's lighting up blue, but that's just reflections from the RAM sticks' RGB.

If anybody has a potential solution, please guide me through! I'm very lost even though I consider myself rather tech savvy. Thanks in advance!

Hi @dented_aluminum

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for laying everything out so clearly—that’s a huge help. And wow, you’ve already done a ton of troubleshooting!

It’s really frustrating when something as visually satisfying as RGB lighting just goes dark, especially after a power supply swap.

Let’s try to bring that glow back. 💡

🔍 What Might Be Happening

  • The RGB headers or controller may have lost sync or power during the PSU swap.
  • Some RGB zones (like the front bezel and cooler) might be wired to a specific header that’s no longer receiving power or data.
  • The lighting controller could be disabled in BIOS or not properly detected by OMEN Gaming Hub.

🛠️ Steps to Try Next

1. Inspect RGB Header Connections

  • Open your case and check if the RGB cables from the cooler and bezel are securely connected to the motherboard’s 12V 4-pin GRB headers.
  • If they’re plugged in but not responding, try reseating them or moving them to a different RGB header (if available).

2. Check BIOS Settings Again

  • Enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 at startup).
  • Look for any settings related to RGB lighting, LED control, or Lighting effects and make sure they’re enabled.
  • Save and exit—even if nothing looks changed, a fresh save can sometimes reinitialize the controller.

3. Perform a Full Power Reset

  • Shut down the PC completely.
  • Unplug the power cable.
  • Hold the power button for 30 seconds to discharge residual power.
  • Plug it back in and boot up—this can help reset hardware communication.

4. Try OMEN Light Studio

  • Open OMEN Gaming Hub and go to the Lighting section.
  • If prompted, install OMEN Light Studio.
  • Check if the cooler and bezel show up as controllable zones. If not, try switching USB ports or reinstalling the SDK again.

5. Inspect for RGB Controller Damage

  • If the original PSU failure caused a surge, it’s possible the onboard RGB controller or header was affected.
  • If you have access to another RGB device (like a fan or strip), try plugging it into the same header to test functionality.

You’ve been incredibly thorough, and I know how disheartening it is when something just refuses to cooperate. Let’s keep pushing—your setup deserves to shine again. Let me know what you find after checking the headers or BIOS, and I’ll help you take the next step!

I have the same model and my front led bezel has never worked. I even changed the light with a new one and that did not help. I updated Everything!. Hp support said I could bring to best buy. Best buy said they would have to send it off to have it for diagnostics. I did not want to send off because it works fine without lights, but disappointed that I paid for something and dont have it
