OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 880-150t CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi, I have Omen Desktop 880-150t which is running with 8GB ram (only 1 ram stick).
Purchased this 2x16GB RAM kit, but am unable to upgrade properly

  • Current RAM (in black slot), new 2 RAM sticks (in 2 Orange slots) doesnt let PC work
  • 2 new RAM sticks (in black slots) and without my current RAM, doesnt let PC work
  • Current Ram (in black slot), one of 2 new RAM in other black slot works and PC shows 24GB RAM

Could someone please point out what am I doing wrong?
Is this RAM Kit incompatibile?

All your tree tries won't work. You can use 2 new sicks one on black and one on orange and ignore the old RAM or buy one more (same as existing RAM and put one black, one on orange in PAIRs

Hi @Banhien, Thank you very much.
I wrongly assumed that each colored were a pair.
But blck/orange are a pair.

i inserted 2 new sticks into a pair of black and orange slots (this one alone works as you pointed out), also added my existing ram to 1 black slot (other orange is empty). So now, I see 40GB ram (32 + 8).
What would u suggest? performance wise? use the new pair only (32GB) or run with 3 RAM sticks (40GB)?
