OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-2000i (83V87AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello HP Community,

I have an Omen 40LGT21 desktop, now I am experiencing random issue of black screen and fan at full speed. The only option is to restart the PC with the start button, I believed I tried every solution out there and nothing works. My bios and all drivers are up to date.

Checking the reliability tool of Windows I found hardware error code 141 and 1b8, anyway I already formatted the pc twice installing graphic drivers with DDU; as graphic card I have an Nvidia RTX4070Ti and as monitor an Alienware 3225QF.

Is there a way to fix this ?

Thanks a lot.

Greetings @12345655

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Is your PC in Warranty?

So Windows will run for a while but the PC will intermittently lose video with fans running at high speed. Is the PC power cycling when this happens?

Are the crashes random or do the crashes only happen when the PC is doing specific tasks?

And you can get Windows running again by doing a cold restart when using the power button?

You have reinstalled Windows twice. And all drivers are up to date.

Intermittent problems are difficult to diagnose.

Check your PC's Intel CPU for degradation (if possible) by running Intel's Processor Diagnostic Tool.

Are you using the latest Nvidia drivers available Here?

Your PC seems to have a hardware problem (you clean installed Windows twice) which requires running the PC in a minimum configuration to isolate the failing component. You may have to swap in core replacement components to find the bad part.

A minimum config would be:

1. Each stick of factory RAM, one at a time, tried in each memory slot.

2. Onboard graphics if the MB supports this. Or a different graphics card.

3. CPU. You may have a degraded Intel "K" CPU.

4. Power supply. Faulty PSUs can cause this fault if the PC is power cycling.

Load the BIOS screen. Peruse all of the BIOS options to see if the PC is stable. Let the PC sit at the BIOS screen for a long period of time. The PC should crash while you're in the BIOS if it has a hardware problem.

Any of the above components could be in trouble if the PC is not stable when running in a minimum configuration.

One of the disconnected (unnecessary) components is causing the problem if the PC is stable.

It is, sometimes, best, if the PC is not in warranty, to have a local PC tech take a look if the PC is not stable using a minimum config.

Regards
