Hi @Ianmicheal,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
It sounds like your OMEN by HP 25L Gaming Desktop GT15-1xxx is experiencing an issue where all USB ports are functioning at USB 2.0 speeds, even though some ports should support faster speeds like USB 3.0 or USB 3.1. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Update Drivers
Ensure that all your system drivers, especially the chipset and USB drivers, are up to date.
- HP Support Assistant: You can use the HP Support Assistant to check for and install any updates.
- Device Manager:
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click on each USB controller and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
2. Check BIOS Settings
Make sure that the USB ports are configured correctly in the BIOS.
- Restart your computer and press F10 (or the key specified on the screen) to enter the BIOS setup.
- Look for settings related to USB configuration.
- Ensure that the USB 3.0 (or USB 3.1) functionality is enabled.
- Save and exit the BIOS setup.
3. Update BIOS
An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause issues with USB ports.
- Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your product number: 7Q8X9AA#ABA.
- Download and install the latest BIOS update if available. Click here
4. Check Power Settings
Ensure that the power settings are not limiting the performance of the USB ports.
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings for your selected power plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand USB settings and then USB selective suspend setting.
- Set it to Disabled for both On battery and Plugged in.
- Click Apply and OK.
check the next set of steps in the next post.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Ianmicheal,
Please find the next set of steps below.
5. Check USB Port Types
Ensure that you are connecting USB 3.0 devices to USB 3.0 ports. USB 3.0 ports are usually blue inside, while USB 2.0 ports are typically black or white.
6. Test with Different Devices and Cables
Sometimes the issue might be with the USB devices or cables themselves. Test with different devices and cables to rule out this possibility.
7. Clean Boot
Perform a clean boot to ensure that no third-party software is interfering with the USB functionality.
- Press Win + R, type msconfig, and press Enter.
- Go to the Services tab.
- Check the box for Hide all Microsoft services.
- Click Disable all.
- Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
- Disable all startup items.
- Close Task Manager and click OK in the System Configuration window.
- Restart your computer.
8. Check for Physical Damage
Inspect the USB ports for any physical damage or debris that might be affecting their performance.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, it might be a hardware problem.
In this case, I recommend you contact phone support for more options.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
