i want to install an ssd for just putting games on but I'm not sure which ssd is compatible I've read that not all ssd will work with the installed motherboard and that i should use m.2 nvme

There is One M.2 socket 3, key M socket on the motherboard for a M.2, SSD. This will allow you to use a NVMe, M.2: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-970-evo-1tb/p/N82E16820147691?&quicklink=true

You may want to consider a M.2 boot drive, as well. This will increase system performance considerably. You could use a standard SSD to install your games: https://www.newegg.com/samsung-1tb-870-evo-series/p/N82E16820147793
