Hello! I have been fighting this problem for the last couple of days and have attempted everything I could find to fix it to no avail. I have an OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a that I recently did a BIOS update on and activated TPM 2.0 in order to play Call of Duty. My issue now is that I still cannot play as Windows doesn't recognize that secure boot is enabled.

I've tried disabling and re-enabling secure boot, resetting HP factory keys, and turning off fast startup but no matter what, windows doesn't recognize secure boot is enabled. Even though it is enabled in my BIOS, when I win+R, type in msinfo32, Secure Boot State is still set to off.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Coltonj13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear that the HP BIOS/Computer Setup documentation, Secure Boot must be properly configured in BIOS/UEFI, and on supported systems, it works together with UEFI boot mode rather than Legacy boot.

  • Secure Boot helps ensure the OS is legitimate before booting and allows only approved signed code during firmware and OS startup.

  • Legacy Support and Secure Boot are linked. On HP systems, enabling Secure Boot typically requires Legacy Support to be disabled.

  • UEFI boot sources take precedence over legacy boot sources. If the system is still using legacy-style booting, Windows may not report Secure Boot as active.

What to check

  1. Enter Computer Setup (F10) at startup.

  2. Open the Secure Boot Configuration section.

  3. Verify:

    • Legacy Support = Disabled

    • Secure Boot = Enabled

    • Secure Boot keys/factory keys are restored if needed

  4. Save changes and restart.

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.

I'm an HP Employee.
