OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000a (207P6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I've suddenly been hit with an issue that my Secure Boot State is set to Off. I play games that require it (bf2042) and for some reason now I can't play. I don't see any recent updates. I don't know why this has suddenly happened.

Online points towards a "setup" and "user" mode discrepancy but I'm not seeing these options in the locked down BIOS. Very frustrated. I've tried turning it off and on again. Settings BIOS Keys to Factory, and trying to restore all factory settings. Nothing has worked.

My last idea was to maybe reinstall the BIOS but upon checking the BIOS installs for my computer I apparently have a BIOS that isn't even listed under my model? F.22 is what I have and the F.21 is what is shown on the site for available drivers. Nothing has been updated recently that I can see.

Currently uninstalling stuff just to see if there's anything impacting it. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I saw a comment on another thread about CMOS reset AFTER the BIOS update. THIS WORKED.

If anyone else has the issue - you need to:

- Check the latest BIOS driver on the site to see if it's new

- Assuming you have a new BIOS to install, install it fully

-After it's been installed and you've restarted your PC, do a CMOS restart

Glad the HP team updated the listed BIOS releases quickly enough to get this fixed before BF6 release!

Greetings @Lewis329048

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Your PC is having a problem affecting quite a few HP PC owners.

You're right, you do need a BIOS update to fix the Secure Boot (PK) database problem.

Some HP PCs are also having an outdated TPM version problem which adversely affects playing certain games.

All you can do is to periodically check your PC's driver download site for a newer BIOS update. Or HPSA might push a BIOS update for your MB.

If that's the only solution then it looks like I'll have to invest in a non-HP desktop rather soon. Battlefield 6 is around the corner and that game will require secure boot. It's a real shame.
Checking my event viewer I see at some point yesterday morning I started getting the error:

"The Secure Boot update failed to update a Secure Boot variable with error Secure Boot is not enabled on this machine"
Event ID 1796 TPM-WMI

It seems something occurred - potentially when I entered the BIOS to change an XMP profile although. I don't remember the exact changes I did but I know I would have "applied defaults" at some point. It's unclear if that was the cause. I guess I'll just pray for a soon to release update or start looking for a new rig.

Still waiting on this as well. Also was looking forward to playing some BF6.

Is there really no other options here than to wait?

Can I downgrade my bios version from F.22 to F.21? Or Repair it be reinstalling F.22?

This feels a bit ridiculous that we have no tools to fix this ourselves... The HP Omen has given me nothing but grief since I got it.

We have two options.

Wait

Or swap the MOBO.

Impossible to downgrade this BIOS.

@DAVEY7X is correct.

An older BIOS version, if you did a BIOS rollback, would have the same outdated Secure Boot (PK) database.

Thanks both of you for the insight, fingers crossed something soon...

Today, within the BIOS version for my HP Omen 30L a NEW update is available:

F.23 Rev A:

I installed it successfully in the hopes it would fix my issue. It didn't. I decided to reset to factory keys again, disable and re-enable secure boot, but still nothing.

Either F23 isn't the fix and someone on HP side is just updating the website (I say website as Support Assistant never prompted to install a new BIOS version) or there isn't going to be a fix as something is not right.

Hopes dashed.
