Sound Issue after windows update

HP Recommended
Omen 17t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Recently, I did a windows update to my Omen 17t laptop. Before the update, I've been using apple earbuds through the headphone jack for the past 2 years and it has been working fine through the audio/speakers of the earbuds as well as the mic. But after this update, the laptop recognizes the earbuds as the default sound speaker and I can no longer use it as a microphone and people keep saying they cannot hear me because the mic of the laptop built in is too far. Also, once I unplug the earbuds out of the headphone jack no sound at all comes out through the laptop itself and it is super annoying when I am not using earbuds, the sound only works when I plug in my earbuds saying it's the "Speakers (Realtek High Audio Definition(SST)) and I do not know what this means but its for my earbuds. I cannot manage to change the default speakers to the laptop and just have the earbuds as the periphery. This problem is very very obnoxious and I would love some help. I've also updated drivers for the past 2 days and used the hp hardware test and driver test but nothing is solving the issue. Thank you so much for your time! I would appreciate a fix  very much!

@TV04,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you uninstall the audio driver from device manager and then download and install it from the below link.

https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers

Here is how it is done.

  1. Type "Device Manager" into the search field to open the device manager console.
  2. Expand the node that represents the type of device that you want to uninstall, right-click the device entry, and click Uninstall.
  3. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click OK to start the uninstall process.
  4. When the uninstall process is complete, remove the device.

NOTE: On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the driver package that was used for the device.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the steps in the below article.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

None of that worked, and I even factory reset my computer and now I can't even play any steam games because it keeps asking me if steam is allowed to make changes and I cannot play cs:go because it says "VAC was unable to verify game files" and I went to the properties in the library tab of the game and tried verifying but that didn't do anything either.

If I go to the sound panel it shows that the speakers are moving but I cannot hear anything at all even with the volume all the way up and checking if it is mute.

And I used the windows troubleshoot feature and it says "Generic Audio Problem" after the entire process.
