Hi @HrishikeshRoy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP Victus laptop is experiencing sudden FPS drops in games like Valorant and CS:GO, even though it ran smoothly before. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

a. Check for Background Processes

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Look for any apps or processes consuming high CPU, GPU, or memory (Windows updates, Discord overlay, antivirus scans, etc.).

End unnecessary tasks while gaming.

b. Update Graphics Drivers

Open GeForce Experience (for NVIDIA GPU 3050) or download the latest driver from NVIDIA’s website.

Perform a clean installation to ensure old driver remnants don’t interfere.

c. Check Power Settings

Go to Control Panel → Power Options → HP Recommended / High Performance.

Ensure Maximum Performance is selected for Processor Power Management and GPU.

Disable Battery Saver mode when gaming.

d. Disable Windows Game Mode & Overlays

Go to Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → Off.

Disable overlays in apps like Discord, Steam, or GeForce Experience as they can reduce FPS.

e. Check Thermal Throttling

Download HWMonitor or CoreTemp to monitor CPU and GPU temps while gaming.

If temperatures exceed 85–90°C, the CPU/GPU may throttle, causing FPS drops.

Clean dust from vents and consider a cooling pad.

f. Reset Graphics Settings in Games

Ensure resolution and graphics settings haven’t changed.

Try lowering settings temporarily to see if FPS stabilizes.

g. Scan for Malware / Windows Updates

Run a full antivirus scan to rule out malware affecting performance.

Check for Windows updates, as some performance patches may improve stability.

h. Check SSD & Storage Performance

Ensure your 512 GB SSD has enough free space and is not fragmented.

Update chipset and storage drivers via HP Support Assistant.I hope this helps.
