Depending on the age of the PC and the BIOS vendor...
The 4th, 5th and 6th characters of the Serial Number give the age when it went thru the factory...

It helps to always post the Product Number of your System so we know exactly what you have.

Those pancake icons with the blinking light mean your hard drive is being used to read/write info at the moment.

It can be entirely normal for it to blink for long periods of time through out the day.

But if you are concerned, you can run the Task Manager and monitor the disk usage to get an idea of whats using it.

Ctrl/Alt/Del then choose Task Manager from the options.

A blue light is normal. An orange light could mean problems. Your manual should explain what the lights mean. If you tell us what you have, we can post your manual. 😉

Ok I got it two days ago, so its brand new. the product id is 00325-81713-72203-AAOEM

The light is only white and it's flickering, not blinking.

Task manager says the disk usage is only 1-2%

Sorry that's the Windows product number. We need the HP number.

Run the HP Support Assistant to find the HP Product number.

Or alternatively, press the Ctrl/Alt/S keys together to get an info menu.

A while light flickering intermittently is fine. Your disk usage is 1-2% and that's good.

It could be anything from windows updates running or an Anti-virus running.
