I have been trying to install Ubuntu on a TG01-2000i for quite a while now. (Intel i5 processor, nvidia 3060ti GPU)
Whenever I boot Ubuntu (different versions) from USB it just hangs after I boot and start the installer. "Safe mode" also does not work. It just hangs.
Secure boot is off
This pc does not have support for "legacy"
Did anyone succeed?

Hi @Demesmaeker1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I’m sorry you’re going through this; I understand the concern and don’t worry I’ll help you with this.

  Check Boot Mode

  • Since your TG01 doesn’t support legacy, make sure the USB is created with UEFI support (GPT partition scheme).
  •  Ensure the USB is properly formatted.
  1. Try Different Boot Parameters

  2. Use Minimal ISO / Different Flavor
    • Sometimes the full Ubuntu installer struggles with newer hardware.
    • Try Ubuntu 20.04 LTS minimal or Ubuntu MATE/Kubuntu to see if they boot further.
  3. Update BIOS / Firmware
    • Check HP’s support site for the latest BIOS update for the TG01‑2000i.
    • Outdated firmware can cause installer hangs.
  4. Test Hardware Compatibility
  • Boot a live USB of another Linux distro
  • If those work, the issue is likely Ubuntu’s installer with your GPU.

I hope this helps.
