Upgrade SSD from 500 to 1 TB
11-05-2019 07:52 AM
How do I change out my original 500 gig SSD for a Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB SSD (MZ-V7S1T0B/AM) and keep the recovery partition? Will this SSD work on this machine?

Hello @Skoop
Yes that SSD will work on your Omen.
Its not really necessary to keep the recover partition now days and in fact, HP has since done away with them.
You have the option to download a copy of the recovery now and place it on a USB Pen drive that has to be 32GB.
Or a lot of people simply install the Windows ISO directly from Microsoft now. Windows updates will add almost everything needed as far as drivers are concerned.
But your alternative to upgrade and keep the old recovery partition would be to Clone the old drive to the new.
Some cloning software has the ability to make up the difference in capacity for the extra space in the larger drive.
Macrium or Aomie are good at doing this.
Is this what you needed to know?
