Upgrade issues

Omen 880-068
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Omen 880-068. Specs: Mother - Higos ddr4 Processor - AMD Ryzen 5- 1400
Graphics - NVIDIA GsForce GTX 1030 (2G)
300W power supply

It’s in need of an update so I got an Samsung V-NAND SSD 970 Evo Plus NVME M.2, 2 Corsair DDR4 16G Vengeance Pro RAM, MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8G GDDR6, and a EVGA 600W power supply.

Installed it all and now it’s failing the POST test 3 long 2 short and a black monitor. I’ve tried alternating the RAM and other parts, even returning to stock with same issue and I’m at a loss. HP says the graphics card is compatible, ram is right and they tried walking through different troubleshooting steps to no avail. Also removed the motherboard battery to reset BIOS but haven’t powered up after. Any suggestions?

@Synyster15 , welcome to the forum.

 

It is always a good idea to install one component at a time when upgrading a computer.  This will allow you to test each component separately.  I suggest that you return the computer to its stock configuration and go into the BIOS/UEFI.  Reset it to the default settings.  I know that you removed the CMOS battery, but that doesn't appear to have done the job.  Once you have returned the BIOS to its default settings you can begin upgrading.  I would begin with the memory.  I believe the error code that you were receiving was for the memory.

@Synyster15,

I would add that the power cord needs to be unplugged.  Although turned off, the PSU still supplied stand-by power to the motherboard.  Hopefully you did no damage.  Example: you had the original PSU in the case, power cord attached. Removing RAM module is all it needed to damage the board.

None of this helped, I’ve already tried all of this. The problem is I can even access bios because it won’t send to the monitor, I’m aware of ESD and power needed to be off. The only conclusion I’ve come to is it fried the mobo. RIP.

@Synyster15, I can't imagine that you fried your motherboard by simply upgrading the components.  Unless, that is, you caused ESD while doing it.  I've worked on computers for years with and without a wrist-strap and have never had a problem.  Even with a wrist-strap I still touch metal inside of the case before beginning to work.
