HP Pavilion 590-p0027nq
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP Pavilion 590-p0027nq.

I'm looking to upgrade the power supply, now it has a 310W one:

L03980-800  Power Supply - GNRC PSU 310W SFF ES Sirius-GFX G.

Can you recommend me a compatible and more powerful power supply (400W+) ?
Where can I buy it?

Thank you.

@Marius_Trufasu , welcome to the forum.

Your power supply unit (PSU) is HP proprietary.  It can only be upgraded by another HP product.  Here is a Power Supply Cross-Reference guide for your model:  https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

Your model is not listed, but there is a Lincs motherboard with the same processor and PSU listed.  It doesn't show an upgrade.

I have a question for you ! Your L03980-800 !  The specification page lists a GTX 1060 3GB card, which requires a 6 pin PCIe power plug.  Can I change the spreadsheet to state the L03980-800 has a PCIe 6 pin power plug ?

Yes, it is possible to use the 400W PSU's that are listed@old_geekster

I created that spreadsheet. It is impossible to keep up with all the different computers, but there is a pattern.

These are all series units, the 590, 595, 690 using either the Sunflower or Lincs motherboard.. Then come the model numbers.  Example: 590-p0001ng, 595-p0033nb.

The HP PSU is proprietary.  A standard  ATX PSU has a 24 pin main power plug, and a 4/8 auxiliary power plug.  You can not use an ATX PSU.  It will not wire/plug into the motherboard.

If you trace the wiring from the existing PSU, there are 2 x2 power plugs and a inline 7 pin power plug.  Some PSU units also have a PCIe6 or PCIe6+2 power plug for a video card.   There are two 400W PSU that will work, as listed on the spreadsheet.   (They only make 180W, 310W, 400W, and 500W) that work with those computers.

Here is an example of an HP 690 upgraded to a 500W.  Same principle.
