Can I upgrade to a higer watt psu for my my HP Pavilion 690-0020? I want to get a 30 series gpu.

@ARandomPcUser , welcome to the forum.

 

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary.  It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector.  Therefore, you will have to buy an upgraded PSU from HP.  Here is a Power Supply Cross-Reference Chart to show you what is available: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Knowledge-Base/Power-Supply-Cross-Reference-for-specific-model...

 

Your model series (690) shows a 310W, 400W and a 500W (L05757-800) that are compatible with the motherboard.  The 500W PSU has a PCIe 6+2 power connector.  However, I don't believe that this is enough power for the RTX 3070 video cards.  The specifications from nVidia show the minimum power requirement is 650W: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3070/?ncid=afm-chs-44270&ranMID=44...
