Hey. Im wondering if I can upgrade my gpu to an a770. My current 1660 super gpu has been running poor over the years. whenever i play a game like apex legends i could only run up to 100fps on the lowest settings and my gpu temperature would always be at 85 degrees. Do I need any other hardware upgrades? Please help me!

@jezix1 , welcome to the Community.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain what to consider when adding or upgrading a video card.

The Total Board Power (TBP) of the A770 is 225W.  This would definitely put a strain on your 400W PSU.  The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP.  The most powerful PSU that HP sells for your motherboard is 500W (L05757-800).  Also, you would most likely find that there would be more heat produced.
