I am trying to upgrade my tower for my sons gaing computer.  I have this

he would like to change the tower to

gaming tower.  I have beeninformed that because of HP proprietary mother board that this will not work.  Can someone point me in the right direction.  Its for Xmas

@DookSux , welcome to the forum.

 

Here are the Motherboard Specifications.  If you look at the section titled "Form Factor" you will see that the Motherboard is customized.  This means that it is very unlikely that you will find a custom case that it will fit into without problems.  The holes in the board have to match the stand-offs in the case or it will short the system.  The only suggestion that I can make is, contact one of the case manufacturers, such as, Corsair, to see if they have a case that will work with it.  The only other problem that I have seen is, the front connectors for the case don't always match retail cases.
