Product: HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0023w

I'm looking to put a 4tb hdd into my hp pavillion tg01 -0023w and i wanted to know what size i need to put into it and if i needed to put anything else in to install it or if i just need the hard drive

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
After reading your post, I did go through the Product Specifications of your product and found out that your computer shipped with a 256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD and you can go up to 512 SSD.

HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.
