HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1070m CTO
Microsoft Windows 11

Just received a new TG01-1xxx Hp Pavilion gaming desktop, on 3/5/22 through a big internet store. It is advertised as having a 400w power source. I have the side cover off to install another hard drive and noticed on the cover of the power supply that max output is 310w, part#  L63964-002.  So my question is, who is giving me the screw job.  Is HP trying to sneak one by or is the box store switching them out and nicely reboxing.

Thanks for your reply.  It is one the companies you have mentioned and I have sent them an email right after my original post here. I haven't heard from them.  But of course, they got your money and they're done with you. From reading posts elsewhere regarding " computers", sometimes they're  built with the wrong parts, either better or not. I got the not one.  Again, thank you. Ernie
P.s. Yes, the only discrepancy as far as I can tell!

@camier,

You are correct: an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1070m CTO ought to be powered by a 400 watt PSU according to these specs: 1 new message (digitalworld-tech.com).

An HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0107no is powered by a 310 watt PSU: HP Pavilion Gaming - TG01-0107no Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support.

Perhaps this is the issue: a mix-up between two almost identical labeled PCs?

Btw, is this the only discrepancy as far as you can tell?

Could this "big internet store" either be BestBuy, Amazon or Newegg?

I would call/contact them right away.

Truth in advertising.

Kind Regards,

Hi

What is the exact configuration of your computer..
the cto, is originally a configurable model

Indeed , If you look at this for example it just says 400w, off with a high performance graphics card that seems fair to me

now if you look at this model

https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/comments/m2g9h7/prebuilthp_pavilion_gaming_desktop_tg011070m/
300w power supply with Nvidia GTX 1660 obviously

Promethee,

Thank you for your input. I indeed got the same one advertised on reddit,  but box store's ad stated 400w.  From all the research I have done prior to posting, this is the 1st time seeing a 300w power supply mentioned. I do appreciate the responses I have gotten here, enough so to put me a ease. Thanks Ernie.
