There isn't a header soldered on, but I see it has a spot for it, as shown in the attached image.

 

If I were to solder on a header, or directly solder on a passive cable, will this HP-implementation of the Z170 southbridge natively support a COM port as long as I get the appropriate drivers?

 

Or, will I need to get something like this, in addition to soldering on the header, and would this work appropriately:
