I was planning on buying a hdd for my pc when i realized i didn’t know if removing the lid (or whatever you call it) will remove my 3 year warranty, as i paid extra for it.

I recommend that you contact HP customer service starting at the link below and get an answer from HP.
If HP informs you that it is OK to upgrade the drive or install memory (or you decide to throw caution to the wind), below is the link to the service teardown video:

Opinions or troubleshooting suggestions in this response are provided independently. I am not employed by: HP, Inc. or the HP Forum.
I think your PC's warranty would be okay unless you damage something as a result of installing a HDD.
You would have to remove this HDD should you need to exercise the warranty during the HP warranty period for all other hardware failures.
Have a local PC Tech do this if you are uncertain about voiding the HP warranty. The PC Tech should warranty the HDD installation.
