Hello all, new to the forum so please be gentle.
I was donated a Z220 CMT and a NVIDIA P4000 GPU that I'm going to convert into a gaming / entertainment hub.
Gaming wise, looking mainly to do some drone flight sim practice on rainy days etc. but will likely get more into gaming.
PSU:
I had to replace the blown PSU and used the standard 400w unit (619397-001).
I since found the Z420 uses the same 400w unit but has a 600w (632911-001) option available.
I'm aware the plug is 8 pin on the 600w and 6 pin on the 400w.
-Will I need more juice to run the NVIDIA P4000 graphics card?
-Will the 600w option for the Z420 fit the Z220?
-Is there an 8 pin to 6 pin adapter available?
CPU:
I think the best CPU to use will be the Intel Xeon processor E3-1245v2,
or the Intel Xeon processor E3-1225v2.
at the moment I have the Intel Pentium G640 processor (standard).
I have a WD My Cloud EX2 (2x10TB HDD) NAS for my movies, photos, docs etc. to and probably use PLEX.
-Should I set this to RAID configuration?
If any one has suggestions as to CPU, PSU, NAS, adapters etc. please feel free to advise.
Your help would be appreciated as I haven't built a system since the 80's
Thanks in advance, Cheers all.. NEMO.
