@Shikhar09, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your Victus by HP 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb0000 has been slowed down after a Windows update and you notice dust accumulation on the fan vents, here are some steps you can follow to clean the fan and improve performance:

Cleaning the Fan Vents (If comfortable)

Power Off and Unplug: Completely shut down your laptop and unplug it from any power source.

Safety Precautions: Ground yourself by touching a metal surface before opening the laptop to discharge any static electricity that could damage internal components.

Access the Fan Area: Depending on the model, you may need to remove the bottom panel to access the fan. Screws often need to be removed.

Cleaning Tools:

  • Use a can of compressed air to blow out dust from the fan and vents. Short bursts will help prevent any moisture buildup.
  • A small brush may help in loosening stubborn dust particles.
  • Avoid using any liquid cleaners.

Reassembly: Once cleaned, reattach the panel and ensure all screws are securely fastened.

Improving Performance

Update Drivers and Software: Use Windows Update to ensure all drivers are up-to-date. This is crucial post-windows update.

OMEN Gaming Hub Optimization: Use the OMEN Gaming Hub to manage resource allocation and optimize performance settings.

Clear Storage: Ensure sufficient free space on your hard drive—at least 15% free space is recommended for optimal performance.

Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs: Use Task Manager to disable programs that start up automatically and may slow down system performance.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
