Hi 🙂
i just bought this pc. it only had a tiny amount of 8gb ram. i got a set of 32gb ram at 3200 mt/s. same speed the original ram was running at. The new ram only runs at 2133 mt/s.
I have seen some posts with the same issues but no sulution. HP say themselves this pc can have up 32gb of ram at that speed.
But the bios is locked down sooo much that i cant even get to anything about memmory settings.
how come?
i have already tried amd ryzen master

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Your issue likely resulted from using some kind of "gaming RAM" -such as G.SKILL or Corsair Vengeance, which is known to get stuck at its SPD or default RAM speed on systems like yours.
There is nothing you can do about it, and if you got such RAM, return it and get your money back.
Instead, get something like a 2x16GB Crucial Pro DDR4-3200 UDIMM RAM Kit with p/n: CP2K16G4DFRA32A.

Would be really nice if they actually said that somewhere. I looked for a document with approved ram but its nowhere to be found. But hey classic hp. Give the costumers as little information and control of their products as possible. Almost like apple

Hi again, Yep -it’s indeed frustrating, and you’re not wrong to be annoyed.
HP could absolutely do a better job of disclosing that XMP profiles aren’t supported in consumer BIOS setups like the one in the Victus 15L. The expectation that "DDR4-3200" means guaranteed 3200 MT/s out of the box… it’s a bit of a trap when XMP is required but locked down.
You’re also right -finding an official HP RAM compatibility list is like trying to lure Bigfoot with a flashlight and a Subway sandwich.
But here’s the kicker: This isn’t just an HP thing -Dell, Lenovo, and even some ASUS prebuilt systems do the same. They often use motherboards with locked BIOSes and rely on JEDEC-standard RAM speeds only. That means no XMP boost unless it’s a higher-end board or custom build.
And yep, it most certainly is a little Apple-esque in how little control is handed over to the user.
So, skip the gaming RAM with flashy heat spreaders and XMP profiles. Stick with Crucial Pro or Kingston ValueRAM, which run at 3200 MT/s JEDEC standard (no XMP needed). Your PC will thank you, and you’ll get the full speed without any drama.
Bottom line: You’re totally right to be annoyed -and shows the need that doing some homework could help prevent issues like this one. But now you know, and so does the next person who finds this thread.

i have just looked at the ram you recommended. some retailers state that is reaches the speed when xmp 2.0 is enabled. Crucial say it themselves in vauge language as well. are you sure it will work at full speed without?

You make an excellent point: better to avoid risking a repeat of previous XMP issues by going for the standard Crucial RAM: 2x16GB DDR4 3200 MHz with p/n: CT2K16G4DFRA32A, and you should be fine to go.
