hii i have a hp omen 40l and when i bought it i tried to download driver update from nvidia but it bricked my pc and i had to reinstall windows and the place where i bought it from told me not to drivers from any other place but hpsa is this true as my pc is getting worse by the day without driver updates what should i do and thank you so much if anyone can help

Welcome back.

 

OEM PC manufacturers will sometimes modify device IDs so component manufacturer drivers will not work, thus you must use drivers provided by the OEM (HP in your situation).

 

The Nvidia driver should not have installed if HP has modified the device ID for your graphics card. The Nvidia installer would not find an Nvidia device if HP has modified the device ID. So I don't know why the Nvidia driver installed and then bricked the PC.

 

You can check the device ID in Nvidia Control Panel if you have this option or check Device Manager in Windows Control Panel.

 

Do an internet search using the device ID to see if it reflects Nvidia.
