envy phoenix 860 upgrade to i7-7700k

ok so i bought a envy phoenix 860 bare bones i want to put a i7-7700k in it if i can now i know some boards do this with a bios update there is a 2017 update but it says nothing about for 7th gen intel chips  i also need to know if the update will make the board run the 7th gen chip do i need a 6th gen chip to do the update before the 7th gen will even work because i have no cpu the board part # is 799926-001 if anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it i dont want to spend that kind of money not knowing

Hi

 

Again, here is your MB.

 

This MB does not support Intel Gen 7 processors with the HP factory BIOS.

 

There is a BIOS update for your MB. The fix revises the Intel CPU microcode 0xBA for R0/S0 stepping processor. A step would appear to be movement withing a specific line of processors. It is not clear if this BIOS update adds support for a different processor SKU.

 

Google this fix to see if it does what you want.

 

Contact HP Support.

 

I really don't know what will happen if you apply this BIOS update and then install a 7700 in your MB.
