So this HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop with Nvidia Geforce GTX was given to me but the previous owner forgot the password and I'm attempting to wipe it. I did the whole F11/ESC key, factory reset, clean drive, etc. and it starts the reset process but anywhere from 13% to 63% complete it stops and the "Undoing Changes" prompt appears. A few moments later, it loads right back to the login screen and nothing's changed. I've tried full reset/partial reset, keep my files/remove everything, just remove my files/fully clean drive, but nothing is doing the trick. SOS!

Hi:
If the PC was made in 2016 or later, see if the notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, so you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
The product number will be 7 characters followed by a #ABA.
