I am looking to buy pavillion 580-002nx desktop with the 3 gb gtx1060. I wanted to know whether it is possible to upgrade the gpu in the future to maybe a 1080gtx.

Hi,

Yes you will able to upgrade the GPU to the NVIDIA GTX 1080 TI.  Look for a mini ITX verson of the 1080. However, you will also need to replace the power supply.  I suggest a 500+ watt psu with at least one 8 pin PCIe auxiliary power connector

You don't necessarily have to buy the ITX version but make sure what you buy will fit inside the PC.
