As Hp victus series do not come with battery limiter rather than that it uses adaptive battery optimizer so it is ok to use it on 100% charged/plugged in all the time

Hi

The short answer is yes, it is generally okay to use your HP Victus plugged in all the time, even when the indicator says 100% charged, thanks to the Adaptive Battery Optimizer.

Here's a breakdown of why and what the optimizer does:

The Role of Adaptive Battery Optimizer

HP's Adaptive Battery Optimizer is designed to manage the battery's health automatically and minimize the premature wear that typically comes from constant charging at full capacity and high temperatures.

  • Smart Charging: Unlike older systems that just keep topping up the battery once it hits 100%, modern HP laptops (including Victus and Omen) with this feature will stop charging the battery once it's full. The laptop then runs directly on AC power.

  • Capacity Spoofing (Potential): Some user reports suggest that when the optimizer is active for an extended period of being plugged in, it may internally adjust the battery's full charge capacity to a lower, healthier level (e.g., stopping the actual charge at around 85-90% of the total capacity, but still showing 100% in the operating system). This is done to reduce the chemical stress on the battery cells.

  • Temperature Monitoring: It monitors battery temperature and usage patterns, and if conditions (like heavy use while plugged in) could lead to damage, it activates protective measures.

 Best Practices for Longevity

While the optimizer handles most of the work, following these practices can further extend the battery's life:

  1. Keep it Plugged In for High Performance: The Victus is a gaming laptop. To get the best performance from your CPU and GPU, you need to be plugged in. Keeping it plugged in for heavy tasks (like gaming, rendering, or complex work) is recommended, as it protects the battery from frequent, high-stress charge/discharge cycles.

  2. Manage Heat: Heat is the biggest enemy of a lithium-ion battery. Ensure your laptop has proper ventilation, especially when plugged in and under load. Use a cooling pad or elevate the laptop for better airflow.

  3. Occasional Discharge: Even with the optimizer, it is a good practice to occasionally unplug the laptop and let the battery discharge to around 20-40% before plugging it back in to charge to 100%. Doing this once every few weeks can help calibrate the battery's monitoring system.

In summary, you can leave it plugged in without worry, as the built-in Adaptive Battery Optimizer is HP's solution to keeping the battery healthy for users who primarily use the laptop as a desktop replacement.

I hope the above is helpful.
