Microsoft Windows 11

so two days ago i decided i should clean the inside of my computer because i saw a lot of dust in it . proceeded to watch a video on how to disconnect the graphics card so i could wipe the dust off inside , took it out and dusted everything with a brush and i put the graphics card back in and computer wouldn’t start . did some searching and decided to try disconnecting all the wires from the motherboard and in that process i broke the sata cable connected on the orisa lighting board inside . took the lighting board out and deemed it destroyed . now my question is : without the lighting board should my computer be able to turn on and power up still ? i’ve tried reseating the graphics card and ram as well as hard drive to no avail . no lights no fans or anything .. the power supply has continuity and is outputting power to the 24 pin cable to motherboard . i noticed that the top of the motherboard has a 4 pin connector that just has continuity when i tested it .

if the computer should be turning on without the lighting board it would help me look for another culprit within the desktop . any help is greatly appreciated ❤️

Yeah too bad, you should have said all that, we would have wasted less time

good at least one computer saved, that's the main thing

hi

from what i understand the computer would not restart before..
indeed if it is just an option to make it look nice, which is generally used by led lighting, it has no effect on the rest that it is disconnected
it seems that you have damaged the computer during this cleaning..
If nothing, not a very good sign
unplug the power, press on off for a long time
If the computer can work without a graphics card, remove it
Only leave the keyboard the mouse, the monitor connected to the motherboard
possibly if several memory module, leave only one
check all connectors..
reconnect, and restart, if there is not even a semblance of starting, a component is dead, I advise you to have it tested by a professional
cleaning is done with a few precautions!

hello ! yes it would not start before the lighting board breaking . so i could not get a light or anything at all then and now . would you think that it’s the motherboard i damaged ? the power supply has power going through the connections .

What is curious is that very often, there is all the same a sign of starting, the computer can start, then turn off, in a loop ..
it's still possible, but I can't say it's the motherboard!

It might require a professional to look at the device, it could be that you did something wrong when disconnecting/reconnecting the components/cables. It could be something as simple as a cable being poorly connected, or it could be a damaged connector on the videocard or MOBO.

I would imagine the PC would boot without the RGB light controller in it, but to answer that with certainty would require an HP employee or a more adventurous forum user willing to disconnect theirs 😉

hey thanks for all the help ! turns out it was my power supply that was the issue ! my graphics card ( rtx 3070 ) recommends a minimum of 650 watts and the one that came with my omen was 500w . someone in a reddit forum mentioned that when i tried to power everything back on the power supply could have shorted or something . so everything is good !! oh and the computer runs fine without the lighting board . just no more rgb controls which is fine for now 😁

This is quite important information that we did not have here..
You didn't say you changed anything.
that could have helped
I wrote
"If the computer can work without a graphics card, remove it"
but you didn't answer that
so, without a graphics card, it should have worked, right?
did you end up replacing the power supply?

yes sorry for that . i was much more detailed with components and hardwire i had on reddit because a person asked me the specs . i didn’t know ! but my pc / did not have an internal graphics card as i opted out of it in building because i figured the 3070 would be good enough ! and the power supply that came with computer was 500w and it must’ve went bad . the 650w corsair i had delivered today is what saved the day ! now to youtube how to reapply thermal paste to cpu 😅
