I have an omen 870-090 desktop with an ssd and an hd and am interested in installing a 3rd 3.5" hd internally; is this possible without replacing my current hd nor the stock psu?

Yes, you can add another standard SSD. You will simply have to find a place to install it. This can be anywhere that there is a space away from heat. Many people have used velcro to install one if there is no other way to hold it in place. You will need a SATA power cable from the power supply unit (PSU) and a SATA data cable to plug into one of the extra SATA connectors on the motherboard.
I like Samsung SSD's because they seem to work well with the HP BIOS/UEFI's. Here is an example of one that should work for you. You can use a SSD up to 2 TB if you need it.
The PSU in your computer is 500W. This will be fine for adding another SSD.
