Hi there @Victus031, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

Based on your description, browser closing unexpectedly and deleted files reappearing, this could be due to malware, corrupted user profile, or system restore settings reverting changes. Let’s walk through some steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:

Run a Full Malware Scan

Malware or unwanted software can cause browsers to crash and restore deleted files.

  • Open Windows Security (Search for it in Start Menu).
  • Go to Virus & threat protection > Scan options > Select Full scan.
  • Let the scan complete and follow any cleanup instructions.

Check Startup Programs

Some apps may be restoring deleted files or interfering with browser operation.

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
  • Go to the Startup tab and disable any suspicious or unknown entries.
  • Restart your PC and check if the issue persists.

Clear Browser Cache and Reset Settings

If the issue is browser-specific:

  • Open your browser (e.g., Chrome or Edge).
  • Go to Settings > Reset settings > Choose “Restore settings to their original defaults”.
  • Also clear browsing data: History, Cookies, and Cached files.

Check System Restore or Backup Software

If deleted files are coming back, your system might be restoring them automatically.

  • Search for System Restore in Start Menu.
  • Check if any restore points are being applied at startup.
  • Disable or adjust restore settings if needed.

Create a New User Profile (Optional)

If the issue persists, your Windows user profile might be corrupted.

  • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
  • Click Add someone else to this PC.
  • Create a new local account and log in to test if the issue continues.

Final Tip

Make sure your Windows and HP drivers are up to date:
