my pc wont power on at all and had a pc repair look at it n said motherboard bad

@jerbear1973 , welcome to the Community.

 

You should check to see if it is still under warranty.  If so, contact HP Customer Support for help.  If not, you can most likely find a replacement on ebay or other online site.

it is not under warranty any longer , the repair store quoted me a used motherboard for 500  how do i know what board to get ? id honestly would rather go new if possible over a used one

I agree that a new motherboard would be your best choice.  Here are the components for your computer on HP PartSurfer.  Look at the section titled "PC Board" for the part number (L75365-601) for your motherboard.  This part number should be on your motherboard.  You can search the Internet to see if you can find one that is new.
