hp OMEN Desktop X
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

Im planning to add additional M2 256 GB SSD to existing one and create RAID 0 configuration , my question is where exactly is the existing M2 256 SSD located in the chasis ?
I guess it is somwhere underneath the motherboar in one of the chambers but wich one ? And how to access it without removing the mobo it self ?

this is Omen DesktopX 900-000nx the same like this one :

http://support.hp.com/emea_middle_east-en/product/OMEN-X-by-HP-900-000-Desktop-PC-series/12079701/mo...

I know everything about the hdd bays 4 of them and how to deal  with them but where can I add additional M2 SDD to create a RAID configuration , and wich one should I buy I would like to have the same as the existing one .

Than k you .

The Munich motherboard has two slots for M.2 and both are in use in your current configuration.

Use the following Motherboard viewer to see the location of ports and components on the motherboard.

You will need the Service procedures to see how to access everything in your Omen X desktop PC. Use the following link.

The hardware reference guide gives a great explanation of most other options for your Omen X Desktop.

It does not describe the use of a PCIe M.2 SSD adapter. You can use it in a spare PCIe  x16 slot to add an M.2 SSD to your system. See the following link at NewEgg.com. I have one. They work well.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA7HN50H6157&cm_re=m.2_pcie_adapter-_-2BM-0011-00...

Your options for best choice on the SSD are 256 GB PCIe-3x4 NVMe, which is the fastest on the planet at the moment or 256 GB NVMe. The Samsung M.2 SSD products are my own preference. See the following link at NewEgg.com.

I have not seen any RAID options in the BIOS simulator. The Intel Rapid Storage Technology (RAID)  Driver is available for download at the support portal for your desktop PC.

Thank you, you got it covered all now so it appears one M2 slot is in use with the existing SDrive Model: SAMSUNG MZVPV256HDGL-000H1 and the second M2 is actualy used for the WLAN as on the board itself there are only two M2 slots
1.x M2 M and 1xM2 Wlan

and to get this done what I had in mind is to add an extra M2 Interface adapter, o boy!  :( that’s crap to be honest.

In the BIOS I did find option for RAID it is there and selectable thing is with only one M2 slot I have to use the only existing PCIe16 slot available which I don’t want to waste for that as I may go for additional Sound Card SoundBlaster Z so that’s not an option.

However adding two SSD 512 drives in driver bays may do the trick hopefully I will be able to create RAID 0 with this two drives and have a single 1TB SSD Raid drive as a gaming drive for Steam Uplay and other .

So, in this case I would have:

  1. M2 SSD as it is with OS on it
  2. 2. 2 x SSD 512 RAID 0 = 1TB ( 2 drives every in its own driver bay )
  3. 2TB existing SATA drive for multimedia and storage purposes

What do you say about this?
