can i use a buddies system restore  disk  if it is the same model ?

Hi:

 

That depends.

 

If it is an HP disk, then yes, you can use it.

 

If he made it from his PC, then probably no.

 

In any event, you have nothing to lose by trying it.  Worst case scenario is it gives you an error that the recovery media is not supported for your PC.

 

However, your PC should be supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to make a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.
