Microsoft Windows 11

I just bought my OMEN Gaming Laptop 17-db0020nt (A44QREA) and it has FreeDOS. I want to install Windows 11, but when I try to install Windows 11 from a USB drive, I get the "install driver to show hardware" error. I'm prompted to install the driver for the disk you want to install it on. I ran an SSD diagnostic test and found no problems. I can't find any drivers for this on the product's driver download page. Can you help me install Windows 11?

This person had a similar issue, and the only suggestion I can offer would be to do what he did and manually install the AMD Neural Processing Unit (NPU) driver so W11 can install.

Here's the driver:

I tried what you said, but it couldn't find the driver. I created the USB using Rufus. Could this be a problem?

I doubt that is the problem but you can use the Microsoft media creation tool and see if that makes a difference.

Download Windows 11

I know it's closing the barn door after the horse has already gotten away, but I would never recommend to anyone buying a new notebook nowadays to buy one with FreeDOS with the intention of installing Windows.

The hardware has become so complicated, no one knows what to do anymore.

If that driver didn't work for you unfortunately I don't have any other ideas for you to try.

I doubt anyone can help you.

You can't find any info on this problem on AMD's forums either.

At least I haven't been able to.

Thank you very much for your interest. I'm trying it with the "media creator tool" and hope it works this time. Yes, Freedos was problematic.

You're very welcome.

If you manage to get Windows installed, please post back and let us know what the magic trick is to do it

Good luck!
