Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

Hello,

I had this Omen Max 16 laptop for around 3 months now. It is a 5090 model and 240hz oled.

yesterday when I was playing Fortnite, the laptop decides to randomly shut off. Thermals were fine, and there was no lag. I heard a blip noise and everything on the laptop shut off simultaneously.

Upon looking into it, seems like many users also have ran into this problem and has already started repair with hp. Unfortunately, there is a part shortage and the repair times are 1-2 months.

Does HP give out loaner laptops because this is the ONLY device I have and I need to be able to carry around a laptop and do schoolwork. Can’t believe the most expensive flagship laptop hp has just dies in 3 months.

Hi @ObliviousOverlo,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how concerning it must be that your OMEN 16 (5090 model, 240Hz OLED) powered off unexpectedly and will not power back on, especially since this is your only device for school and work. I’ll do my best to help.

Regarding the sudden shutdown

You’re right that HP is aware of a few reports of similar behavior, and repairs may require specific replacement parts. Since your laptop is only about 3 months old, it is still under HP’s standard warranty, and we’ll make sure your case is handled correctly.

About loaner or replacement devices

At this time, HP does not typically provide loaner laptops during repair, as policies can vary by region and service provider. However, we can check your case record to see what support options are available in your area. In some cases, expedited service or alternative arrangements may be possible, depending on inventory and regional programs.

To proceed, could you please provide your HP Case ID or Service Order Number (if you already contacted HP Support or started a repair request)?
Once we have that, we can:

  • Review the current repair or replacement status, and
  • Confirm whether any temporary equipment or alternative service options are available for your region.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Honestly it's pathetic. Thousands of dollars for a laptop that up and dies in a strong breeze. Pathetic.

I will never buy from this cheap company again.
