Hi @Prakashaleti01,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand your HP Victus laptop with Ryzen 5 8645HS is experiencing multiple issues, including USB ports powered after shutdown, overheating during light use, very short battery life while gaming, and occasional touchpad freezing. Let’s go through a structured set of steps to troubleshoot these.
1. USB Power After Shutdown
Some laptops have USB power delivery enabled during shutdown for charging devices. This is usually a BIOS/firmware setting.
Check BIOS/UEFI Settings:
Restart the laptop and press ESC → F10 (or the key shown on your screen) to enter BIOS.
Look for USB Charging / Power in Shutdown / Always On USB options.
Disable it if you don’t want the USB ports to stay powered after shutdown.
Windows Settings:
Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Uncheck Turn on fast startup (this can sometimes keep USB power on).
2. Overheating During Normal Use
Update BIOS & Drivers:
Download latest BIOS, chipset, GPU drivers from HP Support for your exact Victus model.
Power Plan Settings:
Set Windows Power Plan to Balanced or HP Recommended for light workloads.
Check Background Processes:
Open Task Manager and see if any processes are using high CPU/GPU while coding. Close unnecessary apps.
Cooling Pad / Ventilation:
Ensure vents are not blocked and consider a cooling pad if you often use it on a soft surface.
3. Short Battery Life While Gaming
Gaming is very power-intensive; 1 hour is typical on high-performance laptops with high-refresh displays.
Optimize Gaming Settings:
Enable Battery Saver / Hybrid Mode when not plugged in.
Lower game settings or reduce frame rate if unplugged.
Windows Battery Settings:
Check Battery Health in HP Command Center. If it shows degradation, calibration may help.
4. Touchpad Freezing
Update Drivers:
Go to Device Manager → Mice and Touchpads → Update driver.
Ensure Synaptics/Windows Precision Touchpad driver is up-to-date.
HP Support Assistant:
Open HP Support Assistant and run diagnostics for touchpad and input devices.
Disable Multi-Touch Gestures Temporarily:
Sometimes, gestures can freeze touchpad. Disable in Settings → Devices → Touchpad to test.
I hope this helps.
