Hello everyone,
I have searched far and wide to answer this question and I may have found the answer but want to make sure before going ahead with other options.
I have read that HP locks the Advanced Settings tab in BIOS so that the "General Consumer" would not mess with anything and brick their machine. I am not a "General Consumer". I am a gamer and have researched everything I do to my computers before attempting it myself.
That being said, I am looking to unlock the Advanced Settings in BIOS so that I can tune the wattage for my machine as its running very hot for my liking. It runs about 83-87 degrees during high periods of gaming. I would like to lower this as it really worries me that prolonged stints at that temperature could damage other components.
I have read that you can "hack" BIOS to unlock these settings but it requires flashing the CMOS which I know I don't want to do in fear of messing it up.
Does anyone have any recommendations to lower the temperature?

Hello @Mlawson1984
You are correct that HP uses a very locked down bios and they do not have a tool to hack the system to unlock any advanced settings. I do not know of any third party tools that would do such a thing.
As far as those temps go, this is normal for an HP laptop. The only other thing some users do to drop temps is either repaste the cpu, use a cooling pad and/or undervolt the cpu with Intels XTU software or maybe Throttlestop. The difference is basically user choice. Some like Throttlestop better than XTU.
Sorry, thats all I can offer.
