HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0160tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys!

I'm trying to find out colour accuracy of this particular model but I can't find it anywhere....

The model name is HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0160tx.

I just want to know how much percentage of sRGB this model covers.

All the information I've got is,

some FHD display has 60% of sRGB coverage and 4K display has 96% of sRGB coverage.

This cx0000 model has 3 different display type as far as I know which are FHD 60Hz/FHD 144Hz/4K (not sure about Hz)

What I'm thinking is;

All FHD 60Hz display covers 60% of sRGB

All FHD 144Hz display covers 96% of sRGB

All 4K display covers 96% of sRGB

But I'm not sure if I'm right...

If anyone knows about this colour gamut information please let me know!

p.s. As a matter of fact, I was going to buy Dell XPS 15 but I've found this HP gaming laptop just a couple of days ago. It loos so nice to attract my full attention. What I need the most from laptop is

1. More than 96% of sRGB coverage

2. 256GB NVME or more

3. GTX 1050 4GB or better

4. White keyboard backlit

5. 16GB DDR4 2666Hz of RAM or more

6. i7-8750H

7. I don't really care about FHD or 4K

8. Thinner than 25mm

9. Lighter than 2.3kg (I am travelling almost 365 days a year so I need a thin and light one. This is why I can't buy a typical gaming laptops....)

10.  Up to 1300 USD

cx0160tx meets most of my requirements except NVME runs PCIe x2 speed..... well It's not a major problem anyway.

So, at this moment, my major concern is about sRGB coverage. There are soooooo many cx-0000 models so I'm confused and don't know which model meets all my requirements. If you know any other models that make me smile, I would really appreciate your suggestion!

Thank you so much!! =D

Hello @rmond6

I'm guessing you will be using the machine for Photography, Video or Graphics reproduction?

First off, HP wont have any documentation with test results for each model. They really don't test for color gamut unless maybe its for a HP Dream Machine external monitor.

The only true way to know the percentage of any given laptop screen is to physically test that panel with a reader.

Up until only recently ( that I know of ), the 4k panels used in several brands of laptops including HP were all from the same panel manufacturer anyway.

The list you provided is somewhat correct on accuracy for the different resolutions.

4k panels independently tested by users on the net have shown to be in the 90% range on consumer models.

But the 1080p models can vary a lot more and be much less accurate than 60%.

In general, all I could recommend is you look for a 4k laptop, if color accuracy is your goal.

The  Pavilion - 15-cx0160tx only uses a standard 60hz 1080 panel.

I would perhaps look at the Omen series that has 4k.

That's the best I can do for you on the subject. Hope it helps.
