Audio Lag in HP Omen 15

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

There is a major audio lag while connecting my earphones. When I connect it the sound still comes in speakers for approximately 3-4 seconds before it starts playing in the earphones. Moreover within this period the screen just freezes. Even when I am playing basic video or Gaming, the screen freezes for few seconds.  It's very annoying as if you are buying a machine this expensive you shouldn't be facing problems like these!

I tried updating drivers but the problem still exists. Moreover some of the solutions given are too complex for a user not having extensive information about PCs. Is there a solution that can be adopted by majority of users?

I understand that Audio Lag in HP Omen 15.


I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix: 


  1. In Windows, type find and fix audio into Search, or right-click the speaker icon  in the taskbar and select Troubleshoot sound problems.
  2. Select Find and fix audio playback problems or Find and fix audio recording problems from the Search results.
  3. Click Next.
  4. Select the device you want to troubleshoot and click Next.
  5. Wait while the troubleshooter detects problems and makes changes (or prompts you to make changes)


If the issue persists then I suggest you to perform a BIOS update on the laptop via this link. Please ensure that the charger is plugged into the laptop until the BIOS is updated successfully.
