Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I bought this high end laptop it was kicking 240 FPS benchmark. Now i can barely watch Youtube on it. Actually, laggs heavy when browsing performing usual tasks. CPU load is always under 15%. The temperature is cool 45C-50C.

So, why is the CPU throttling? I have generic Windows drivers since HP didn't release updates that work for the new Win10 versions.

@gamer-x, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Is the performance affected while using any one application or is it the same with several applications/games?

Let us try these steps:

Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Also, check for any pending windows update. Reboot the computer.

  • Search windows for and open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Window on your PC
  • Click on Component tests > Processor > CPU Stress Test. Let me know the result.

Also, perform these steps:

  • Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.

  • Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.

  • In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.

  • Click Apply and ok.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
