Hi HP Support,

I'm attempting to recover a bricked BIOS on my HP Victus 16z-e100 (Product Number: 53G34AV, Serial, System Board ID: 08A22).

I followed the correct BIOS recovery process (Windows + B and USB recovery) and used the official SoftPaq from HP’s support page.

Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e1000 IDS Base Model Software and Driver Details

The SoftPaq claims to support SSID 8A21 and 8A22, but only includes 08A21.bin. As a result, BIOS recovery fails with:

“The BIOS recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted.”

I’ve manually created the correct recovery USB with all required folders (Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New and Current), and tried multiple known SoftPaqs including sp155536.exe, but none of them include 08A22.bin.

I need the correct BIOS .bin and .sig files for System Board ID: 08A22, or a SoftPaq that actually includes them.

Can HP provide:

  • A valid BIOS SoftPaq for 08A22?

  • Or a working copy of 08A22.bin and 08A22.sig for use with recovery USB?

This issue leaves the laptop completely unbootable and unrecoverable through standard public tools.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Darkomenn

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the situation—and I’m truly sorry your Victus 16z-e100 is stuck in BIOS recovery due to missing board-specific files. I appreciate the precision and care you’ve taken in preparing the recovery USB and verifying SoftPaq contents.

The BIOS recovery for your HP Victus 16z-e100 is failing because the publicly available SoftPaqs do not include the required files for System Board ID 08A22. These files are not currently distributed through HP’s standard support channels.

Since the system is unbootable and the recovery fails with a missing file error, here’s what you can do next:

Confirmed findings from current HP resources

  • The SoftPaq sp155536.exe and others listed for the Victus 16-e1000 series do not include 08A22.bin, even though they claim support for SSID 8A21 and 8A22

  • The recovery process fails with: “The BIOS recovery files cannot be found or the files are corrupted”

  • The correct recovery USB structure (Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New and Current) is valid, but without the matching .bin and .sig files, recovery cannot proceed

Recommended next steps

1. Recheck all available SoftPaqs for your exact product number (53G34AV)

  • Visit the HP Victus 16z-e100 driver page
  • Download all BIOS-related SoftPaqs, including older versions
  • Extract each and inspect the BIOSUpdate folder for 08A22.bin and 08A22.sig

2. Try BIOS recovery from a different USB format

  • Format the USB drive as FAT32, not exFAT or NTFS
  • Use a 2GB–16GB USB stick (larger drives may not be recognized during recovery)
  • Place the files in Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\New and Current folders
  • Use the Windows + B key combo while powering on to trigger recovery

Let me know if you’d like help verifying the contents of a specific SoftPaq or preparing the USB again. You’ve done everything right by staying observant—I’ll be here to guide you further.

There is no BIOS for 8A22. I have filed a case with the BBB as there is no public release of this BIOS and my system is bricked.
