HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec0101ax
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was unaware about the BIOS update shown in hP assistant on my new hp pavilion gaming laptop and I did update to F.12 version which later I came to know that was a dangerous process for my motherboard. Why you provide such updates which may cause damage to the system? Also, my fan sounds louder than it was before the update. Now in hP assistant its showing to do hp pc hardware diagnostics UEFI. what should I do now? The update was done yesterday and I had to reset the laptop. After resetting its showing to do hp pc hardware diagnostics UEFI. what is this? I am confused and afraid at the same time.😣

@, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand that notebook has an issue fan is making a loud sound after updating the BIOS.

I have a few recommendations:

As I understand you want to control fan speed,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Did you know that the fan is system managed and cannot be changed manually?

Does the computer shut down due to overheating?

Have you recently made any changes to the computer before the issue started?

Have you tried to update the drivers and the Bios?

If you didn't, I'm afraid that's how the HP device is designed, making changes to fan speed may cause overclocking or over-throttling causing hardware malfunctions within the device and hence is not recommended or supported by HP.

If your device is overheating, please remember the below information:

NOTE: Generally, when temperatures inside the case rise above 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit), the risk of damaging important internal components increases greatly.

Also, to avoid CPU damage, we do not recommend throttling or overclocking the CPU, I recommend you refrain from using high-performance games on this laptop as it's not built for the same.

I would suggest you refer to the support documents as this will help you in resolving the issue.

Let's start off by updating the Bios, Chipset, and graphics card drivers on your PC from our HP support website, using this link.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

I don't have any idea about it.

Does the computer shut down due to overheating?

Till now it not shutdown due to overheating.

Have you recently made any changes to the computer before the issue started?

No, I only updated the version to AMI F.12 version which is prompted to do by hP assistant app.

Have you tried to update the drivers and the Bios?

Yes, the Bios is updated to AMI F.12 version which is prompted to do by hP assistant app.  Is there any problem with this version on my hp pavillion gaming laptop? is it compatible for my pc?

I'm stuck with a similar problem - after HP Assistant recommended update (that is also available as recommended for my laptop on current HP official BIOS list) my Laptop is very slow, i cannot even open youtube... even this forum is hard to read and scroll... I followed all the recommendations of the AI assistant for 3 days with no success... how can I get back to the old BIOS version? Or I need to do a full reset now and lose everything I have?

Or i need to spend money now to look for something where to back up before reset and then HOPE that things will work after back-up and reinstalling all the software I have?

Any recommendations to avoid full reset?
