Battery drains very quickly, I have replaced it twice and they are new, could there be a more powerful battery for this laptop?

@JAJDesign, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the battery draining!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The HP Pavilion Gaming 15-cx0000 series laptops come with a standard battery (typically a 52.5Wh or 70Wh Li-ion battery). If your battery is draining quickly despite being new, there could be other underlying issues rather than just needing a more powerful battery. Here’s what you can check:

1. Battery Compatibility & Alternatives

  • HP does not officially offer a higher-capacity battery for this model.
  • Ensure that the replacement batteries you’ve used are genuine HP batteries and match the original specifications.

2. Possible Causes of Fast Battery Drain

  • High Performance Settings: If your laptop is set to "High Performance" mode, it may drain faster.
  • Background Processes: Check Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) for any power-hungry apps running in the background.
  • Graphics Settings: If the system is using the dedicated NVIDIA GPU instead of integrated Intel graphics for normal tasks, it can drain the battery faster.
  • Outdated Drivers or BIOS: Visit HP’s support website and update your BIOS, chipset, and graphics drivers.
  • Battery Calibration: Try a battery calibration by fully charging, discharging to 0%, and then fully recharging without interruptions.
  • Windows Power Management Issues: Run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt (as Admin) to get a report on battery health.

3. Power-Saving Tips

  • Lower screen brightness.
  • Switch to "Battery Saver" mode when on battery.
  • Disable unnecessary startup programs.
  • Use integrated graphics for non-intensive tasks.

Let me know if this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
