Hi,

 

For a while now my power supply is getting incredibly hot during gameplay and it was never this hot before so I guess something isn't working right at all. I do remember the brick getting warm, but it literally gets burning hot; this shouldn't be happening full stop. For example, playing Forza Horizon 5 on High settings with 4x AA and with core performance boost enabled/disabled the battery drains from 100% - 64% after almost 1 hour of playing. I always ensure the power brick is in a good place and not suffocated. Would I be able to get this repaired/replace as I am still in warranty and where would be the best port for this?

I understand you are facing an issue with your OMEN 15-En0000 Laptop PC. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

 

To assist better:

  • I would like to know if the power cable is directly connected to a wall outlet or a Powersupply
  • Was there any recent WIndows update or BIOS update done on the PC?
  • Did you install any 3rd party software on the PC before the issue occurred?
  • Did you try with an alternate adapter?

While you respond to that, please follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

 

Step 1: Power drain: 

  • With the PC turned on, disconnect the power cord from the PC
  • Remove USB cable/HDMI Cable and any other flash drives connected, if present.
  • Press and hold the power button on your notebook PC for about 10-15 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the PC.
  • Turn on the PC and wait till the warm-up period finishes and the notebook PC is idle.

Step 2: Update BIOS and Graphic Drivers from this Link.

 

If the issue persists then please follow the steps mentioned in this document.

Hi,

 

Thanks for your response. 

 

  • The power supply is always plugged directly into the wall, no extensions etc.
  • PC is always upto date, this issue hasn't been happening because of updates.
  • Only 3rd party software I use is discord and razer cortex - I've used these since I purchased the laptop.
  • I don't have a spare 200W charger laying around if I'm honest, and they're quite expensive.

As for draining the battery, I have done this many of times to ensure battery health is always looked after. I try not to leave charging overnight too, always unplugging the charger. 

 

Graphics/bios have always been upto date, I believe I am on bios F13.A. I strongly believe there is a fault with the battery/charger and I see other users experiencing the same issue.

Had the same problem on my Omen 16.  I used Omen Gaming Hub software intelligent undervolting feature to under volt the cpu.  Now the battery still discharges down to 95% after a long gaming session instead of 50%.  Also the power brick is warm to the touch but not uncomfortable to touch as it was before.

Please try the below steps:

 

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

 

Step 2 HP Support Assistant Updates -

1) In the search box, type and open HP Support Assistant.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

 

Also, try updating the BIOS. Refer to this document for steps - HP Consumer Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) 

 

Try to update the Chipset & Graphic drivers from this link: Software and drivers for OMEN 16
